The 56th annual
HIPOW auction and dinner that K of C Council 5011 supported
by providing guards for auction items and doors.
HIPOW in Fairbanks stands for
the Highland Community Parochial School Auction, now
known as the Catholic Schools of Fairbanks' major annual
fundraiser, organized by the Monroe Foundation to support local
Catholic education through dinners, auctions, and community
support. What it is: HIPOW (originally for Highland
Parochial School) is one of the largest fundraising events
for the Catholic Schools of Fairbanks (St. Joseph, Immaculate
Conception, Cristo Rey Jesuit, and Monroe Catholic High). Annual Event: It's a beloved
community gathering featuring auctions (silent & live), dinner,
and raffles. Generosity: It relies on
donations from alumni, parents, local businesses, and residents
for auction items (baskets, gift certificates, services). Purpose: To raise crucial
funds for the operation, programs, and advancement of the
Catholic Schools of Fairbanks. History:
The Monroe Foundation, established in 1958, started the first
HIPOW auction in 1970, under the guidance of Fr. McGuigan. In
short, HIPOW is a festive, community-focused event that keeps
Catholic education thriving in Fairbanks by bringing people
together to give generously.
